Terracotta Army (Lintong, Xi’an, Shaanxi) – located 1,379 km west of Shanghai (2 ½ hour plane ride), this is one of the top attractions in China. It is significant because the hundreds of detailed life-size models (including warriors, horses and chariots) represent the army that triumphed over all other Chinese armies in the Warring States Period, and who ushered in the united imperial China era 2,200 years ago. It is considered one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world, and one of the greatest discoveries of the 20th century. Admission: RMB 90 (March-November), RMB 65 (December-February). Hours: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm (March-November), 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (December-February).
